President Rodrigo Roa Duterte joined the officials and employees of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) as it celebrated its 24th anniversary at the Heroes Hall of Malacañan Palace.

The President witnessed the awarding of plaques to several employees for their dedication and years of service to the OPAPP. He also watched an audio-visual presentation on the OPAPP Milestones that was introduced by Secretary Jesus Dureza.

“Look at where you are now,” said President Duterte in his message as he congratulated the OPAPP for its achievements that have positively impacted the nation, in spite of being such a young government office.

He said that the OPAPP’s efforts “turned enemies into friends and partners” and that its perseverance, regardless of diversity and challenges, may finally lead to the attainment of genuine peace in the country.

The President also emphasized that the “government continues to extend (its) hand of friendship” to the different peace panels it is negotiating with.

The event was attended by former President Fidel Valdez Ramos, National Security Adviser (NSA) Hermogenes Esperon, Jr., former OPAPP Secretary Eduardo Ermita, OPAPP officials and employees, as well as members of the different peace panels and peace partners.
