President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recognized the noteworthy contributions of the 2022 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos in an awarding ceremony held at the President’s Hall in Malacañan Palace.

“Time and again, our personal and shared experiences teach us that even the grandest vision can become reality. But only when and if we put our effort together to make our dreams come true,” keynoted by the President during his remarks.

The awardees, comprising of four (4) teachers, three (3) soldiers and three (3) police officers, underwent an intensive selection process and were selected from hundreds of nominations.

President Marcos Jr. lauded the character and determination exemplified by the awardees who have fulfilled and transcended their duties in the name of public service.

“It is arguable to say that the way of life of a soldier, a policeman, and a teacher could be described as one of the most difficult and often thankless jobs that we ask our citizens to do. And yet, you did it and you did it well,” said the Chief Executive while also acknowledging Metrobank Foundation’s important role in this initiative that forms part of their corporate social responsibility.

“Your constant resolve to fulfill and transcend your duties to the best of your ability will exemplify what it means to be true public servants. You are the living embodiment of the phrase beyond excellence,” he added.

The Outstanding Filipinos are recognized for their contributions in service and community involvement towards making a difference beyond their own selves, in the sectors where they serve, and in the country at large.

According to the Metrobank Foundation, Inc., the awardees’ accomplishments include innovations in their respective institutions as well as advocacies that benefit several communities. This year’s teacher-awardees have proven that mentorship is crucial in a learner’s journey, especially during a crisis. Their breakthroughs and innovations are rooted in shaping the future generation.

The soldier and police officer-awardees, on the other hand, live up to the values of industry and integrity, serving as role models to their peers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP). Apart from ensuring the nation’s peace and sovereignty, they also fulfill their obligations to keep the population safe from COVID-19.
