President Benigno S. Aquino III graced the 2012 Presidential Salubong of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) held in Pasay City.

The President met and greeted OFW’s on board Qatar Airways and Emirates as they touched down in Manila. Among them, three (3) lucky winners have been skilfully picked based on their status, preferably low waged and comes from a poor community in the country.

One of the lucky recipients is Virginia Tulagan Miranda, a 43-year old household service worker in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She has been working for about a year and nine months and is earning US$400 monthly. A mother to two children, Virginia hails from San Carlos, Pangasinan.

At the Presidential Salubong, the winners received the following prizes as a token of appreciation for their contributions and sacrifices not only in their family but for the country as well: P100,000 cash gift from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), P50,000 cash gift in savings from Banco de Oro, P30,000 cash gift from the Land Bank of the Philippines, US$2,000 worth of gift certificates from Duty Free Philippines, P36,500 worth of gift certificates from SM Supermalls, and P16,500 worth of gift certificates from DHL Express.
