Almost a month since his inauguration as the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. delivered his 1st State of the Nation Address (SONA) as the Joint Session of the 19th Congress (First Regular Session) formally opened at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City on July 25, 2022.

President Marcos Jr. unveiled his Administration’s plans for the country in the next 12 months regarding the economy, agriculture, agrarian reform, tourism, social welfare, health, education, digitalization, infrastructure, energy, climate change, Filipino migrant workers and foreign policy, among others.

The State of the Nation Address is an annual tradition and constitutional obligation of the Chief Executive specified in the 1987 Constitution. During the SONA, the President reports on the state of the country, unveils the government’s agenda for the coming year and proposes specific legislative measures before both Houses of Congress.
