President Benigno S. Aquino III honored the awardees for The Outstanding Barangay Officials of the Year (TOBOY) and The Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa (Lupon) for their exceptional performance as public servants as he graced the 1st Barangay Day Celebration of Bohol province held at the Bohol Wisdom School in Tagbilaran City.

President Aquino said that the awardees are the stewards of the people’s trust and that they are the ones who directly attend to the needs and problems of their constituents through the proper implementation of the government’s projects and the delivery of basic services to the public. He described them as good example of an excellent public servant and that their awards will never be enough to match the integrity and dedication they offered to his administration. He added that the government will continue to find ways to acknowledge them for their hard work.

Meanwhile, President Aquino said that the objective of the Park and Train Mobile Plus of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) that was launched earlier is to teach and enhance the Boholanos’ skills in commercial cooking, food and beverage services, housekeeping, bar tending and welding. The program, he said, will be of great help to our countrymen who are in need and are looking for decent jobs.

The President also proudly stated that the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program is continuously benefitting thousands of Filipinos. The Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program has already achieved 99.66% of its target in Bohol and is now benefitting 46,202 families from the province. He also announced that the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board has already approved the construction of the new Bohol airport in Panglao last September 4, 2012. The government allotted a 7.4 billion peso-budget for the project that will start on November 2013.

According to President Aquino, the country’s growth and progress is resulted by good governance, and by giving just and equal opportunity to all.

Assisted by Senator Teofisto Guingona III and Bohol Governor Edgardo Chatto, the President handed out the plaques and cash prizes to TOBOY and Lupon awardees. The TOBOY awards were given to outstanding Punong Barangays, Barangay Kagawads, Barangay Secretaries, Barangay Treasurers and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairmen, while the Lupon awards are for the outstanding municipalities.
