President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. lauded the successful amphibious assault exercise of the first Amphibious and Land Operation (ALON) 2023 bilateral training at the Naval Station Leovigildo Gantioqui (NSLG) in San Antonio, Zambales.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Richard Donald Marles MP of Australia, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr., Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Hae Kyong Yu and Zambales Governor Hermogenes Ebdane attended the event alongside the President in the view deck.
The ‘Indo-Pacific Endeavor (IPE): ALON 2023’ program is a bilateral training initiative among the AFP, the Australian Defense Force (ADF) and the United States Marine Corps (USMC) that aims to enhance proficiency and showcase capabilities in maritime, amphibious and subsequent land operations.
This operation involves over 2,400 combined personnel, including 900 from the AFP, 150 from the USMC and 1,200 from the ADF.
