“I am assuring you that I will remain committed to modernizing the Armed Forces so no threat will be impossible to handle,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reiterated as he vowed to continue prioritizing the modernization and strengthening the capabilities of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in order to execute its responsibilities for the service of the Filipino people.
The Commander-in-Chief made these remarks during his attendance to the 126th Founding Anniversary of the Philippine Army (PA) where he underscored the importance of being “fully prepared and capable for any contingencies, especially during external security threats.”
“We will continue to invest not only in modern equipment and material, but also in your training, so you can keep abreast of concepts, doctrines and strategies needed in the modern battlefield,” President Marcos Jr. conveyed.
He urged the Armed Forces to continue undertaking their crucial role as ‘peacemakers’, encouraging them to tirelessly work with the government, civil society groups, private sector and communities in promoting the whole-of-nation approach towards sustaining peace and stability in the country.
The President also emphasized the need to protect and mold the younger Filipinos in becoming responsible citizens and patriotic leaders who will eventually “inherit the legacy and lead the country.”
“This is a critical task as it is only through achieving internal security that we will be able to foster development and address equally important security concerns. It now behooves upon you to ensure that these areas will not fall onto the hands of those who intend to sow fear and discontent,” he stated.
