President Benigno S. Aquino III recognized the acts of bravery and dedication by the national police when he graced the 113th Police Service Anniversary at the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

In his speech, President Aquino also mentioned a few of his administration’s reforms in upgrading the services of the PNP.

In achieving a 1:1 police to pistol ratio last year, a new Integrated Ballistics Identification System (IBIS) was procured for proper inventory of firearms.  Similarly, the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) was obtained for faster identification of fingerprints in a crime.

Meanwhile, in promoting the welfare of the police, government has completed at least 98% of its Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) / PNP Housing Program Phase II. A total of 30,558 housing units were built for the national police, and the final list of awardees was already submitted to the National Housing Authority (NHA).

“Ganito po ang ibig sabihin ng matuwid na pamamahala: ang pangangailangan ng ating unipormadong hanay, tinutugunan. Ang alagad ng batas, inaalagaan at sinusuklian ng kalinga ng pamahalaan,” the President said.

The PNP was also allocated a P2-billion budget for its Capability Enhancement Program and another P100 million for the construction of an additional 18 police stations.
