President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos laid a wreath in honor of Mahatma Gandhi at the Raj Ghat in New Delhi, India.

Clad in cloth slippers, the President and the First Lady offered their profound respects to Mahatma Gandhi, who is regarded as the father of the Indian nation. Gandhi was a distinguished lawyer, politician, social activist and writer who led India’s struggle for independence from British rule.

Raj Ghat is a simple black marble platform marking the site where Gandhi was cremated on January 31, 1948. An eternal flame burns nearby and a stone footpath leads visitors to the memorial enclosure.
