President Benigno S. Aquino III witnessed the signing between the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and the Japan Marine United Corporation on Maritime Safety Capability Improvement Project (MSCIP).

Under the contract, Japan Marine United Corporation will build 10 multi-role response vessel (MRRV) units and special parts for the DOTC with the cooperation of Marubeni Corporation. The project was based on the Maritime Safety Capability Improvement Project (MSCIP) for the Philippine Coast Guard under the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan. The 10 MRRV units and its special parts are expected to be delivered by the end of August 2016.

After the signing and photo opportunity, the President was presented with a souvenir showing the picture of the vessel that shall be built.
