President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited the 26 soldiers who were wounded-in-action (WIA) during the Marawi siege and other battle encounters at the Army General Hospital (AGH) in Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City, while their attending physician, Major Aldrich Raymund Fernandez MC, updated the President on the soldiers’ medical condition.

The President awarded the Order of Lapu-Lapu (Kamagi Medal) with rank of Kampilan to these soldiers who are currently recuperating at the AGH. Nineteen of them were wounded in various encounters in Marawi, while the other seven were injured in clashes in Maguindanao, Ilocos Sur, Bukidnon, Samar, Jolo, Sulu and Davao del Norte.

The Order of Lapu-Lapu, as stated at Executive Order No. 17, is “awarded to officials and personnel of the government and private individuals in recognition of their invaluable service in relation to a campaign or advocacy of the President.”
