President Rodrigo Roa Duterte boosted the morale and checked the condition of the wounded-in-action (WIA) soldiers confined at the Camp Evangelista Station Hospital in Cagayan de Oro City.

He awarded the Kampilan medal to the 76 soldiers who got injured in the government anti-terrorism operations in Marawi City. The soldiers also received caliber .45 pistols as their personal sidearm weapon, mobile phones, and cash assistance from the President.

According to the Commander-in-Chief, the mobile phones can be used by the soldiers to contact him in case they need help from the government.

In his speech before the WIA soldiers, he assured them that the government is establishing a fund so that their children can study for free in college.

“Yung 50 billion para lang yun sa edukasyon ng mga anak ninyo,” President Duterte said.

He reiterated his administration’s campaign against terrorism and said, “It will not stop until the last terrorist is taken out.” He also reminded the soldiers of their mission as the Republic’s defenders of peace.

“Try to be alive and fight for the country. Our duty here is to protect the people and serve itong Pilipinas natin,” the President remarked.

“Kaya magsakripisyo kayo, that’s the ultimate… sa lahat ng Pilipino ngayon, ang pinakamahirap at pinakamabigat na nagbibigay ng kontribusyon sa bayan nila, kayo,” he added.
