President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited several policemen who were wounded-in-police-operations (WIPO) and currently confined at the Kidapawan Medical Specialist Hospital in Kidapawan City, Cotabato.
According to the spot report, police officers from the Provincial Intelligence Branch, the Antipas Police Station and the M’lang Police Station conducted a pursuit operation on February 2, 2017 to find the suspect of a shooting incident that transpired in the municipality of M’lang, Cotabato on February 1, 2017.
Those who were wounded-in-police-operations (WIPO) included PO2 Joselex Avena who is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and PO1 Angelito Edep. During the hospital visit, President Duterte talked to the wounded police officers and assured their families that the government would assist them regarding their hospital expenses.
Apart from the hospital visit, the President paid his respects and expressed his deep sympathies to the family of the slain police officer who was part of the said operation, PO1 Jerome Ruefa. His wake lies in his residence at the Old Barracks, Barangay Sudapin, Kidapawan City.
