August 31, 2016

Right after his visit to the wake of slain soldiers, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited seven wounded-in-action (WIA) soldiers of the Philippine Army (PA) at Camp Navarro General Hospital of Western Mindanao Command (WESMINCOM) in Zamboanga City.

The Commander-in-Chief conferred the Wounded Personnel Medal to Pfc. Rey Pejay Tubban, Pfc. Vinjie Colaljo, and Pvt. Jemar Maictin. The latter two were wounded during the recent encounter with the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members at Brgy. Maligay in Patikul, Sulu on August 29, 2016 while they were conducting pursuit and blocking operations against the terrorist group.

President Duterte also talked to four other wounded soldiers within the same ward, namely Cpl. Ruben Lapidez, Pvt. Alvin Nicolas, Pfc. Joey Tanay, and Pfc. Antonio Agliam. He personally checked their conditions and gave an initial financial assistance to the wounded soldiers.
