President Rodrigo Roa Duterte conferred a Gold Cross Medal to the slain 2Lt. Estelito Saldua, Jr. in his residence at San Jose, Batangas.

During his visit to the wake, the Commander-in-Chief comforted the bereaved parents, Gina and Estelito, and the siblings of the killed soldier. He provided them with financial assistance and a cellular phone with his contact information.

“Kung may kailangan kayo, maski anong problema na hindi ninyo masolusyunan, tawagan ninyo lang ako,” he said to the family.

Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas gave scholarships up to the college level to the other three siblings of 2Lt. Saldua.

The 23-year-old soldier was killed while conducting combat operations against the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) at Inabanga, Bohol on April 11, 2017.

2Lt. Saldua is an alumnus of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Sinaglahi Class of 2015.
