Demonstrating the government’s strong commitment and determination to end the scourge of illegal drugs in the country, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally assessed the confiscated illegal substances during his visit to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) National Headquarters in Diliman, Quezon City.

In his brief message, the President highlighted that the recent operation marks the largest drug haul in Philippine history within six (6) months. He cited that over the past three (3) years, authorities have interdicted approximately PhP62 billion worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, making it the most significant volume of seized illegal substances within such a timeframe.

“Iyan ay nabawasan natin dahil sa paghuli nitong – patuloy nating paghuhuli ng mga pagpasok. Ito ang bunga nung naging instruction ko sa ating mga awtoridad na dapat ang unahin nating tingnan kung saan pumapasok ang malalaking shipment ng droga. At medyo namo-monitor na rin natin, nakikita na rin natin,” he remarked.

He commended the cooperation of local fishermen who discovered the drugs floating in waters across various provinces in Luzon and immediately turned them over to authorities, prompting joint operations with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other concerned agencies.

Following the completion of operations and inspection, the PDEA is set to destroy the confiscated drugs — worth more than PhP8 billion — within 24 hours in Capas, Tarlac.

The Chief Executive instructed the PDEA to ensure that the disposal procedure is transparent to the public, including proper testing to verify the integrity of the seized shabu, which will be destroyed through thermal decomposition.

“So, what we will do now ay titiyakin natin ay ang proper disposal nitong mga drogang ito para hindi babalik sa black market. Hindi babalik sa street market. Basta hindi na lalabas, sisirain na natin,” he added.

Furthermore, he urged all key government agencies to continue the anti-drug campaign through peaceful means, such as strengthening prevention programs, rehabilitation efforts and sustained action against large syndicates.

“So, that is what we are continuing to do. We are hitting the drug trade at the highest level and at the lowest level. And we are beginning to see some measure of success. Kaya ipapagpatuloy natin ito… The new concept of the war against drugs is working. So, we will continue down that vein. And I think we are beginning to see the good effects of that new policy,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his message.
