Demonstrating the Administration’s commitment to improving the country’s airports and providing a better travel experience for passengers, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inspected the newest facilities at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

The President visited the airport to check on the progress and upgrades delivered since its operations were turned over to the New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC).

Among the significant improvements are the recently opened immigration lane or ‘blue lane’ dedicated to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

According to the Bureau of Immigration (BI), this new expansion aligns with the Administration’s goal of improving services for the OFWs. It includes six (6) additional counter spaces manned by 12 immigration officers to decongest processing lines, especially during peak travel season.

Apart from the dedicated immigration lane, OFWs are now enjoying 24/7 access at the OFW Lounge offering free meals, drinks, wi-fi and charging stations. This is the second OFW Lounge opened by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) following the OFW Lounge at the NAIA Terminal 1.

The OWWA reports that these two (2) OFW Lounges have already accommodated 800,000 OFWs to date.

In terms of access, mobility and parking, the NNIC opened a centralized ride-hailing hub with 401 dedicated parking slots and 18 loading bays to provide passengers with faster and more convenient ways to book transportation to and from the airport. This was complemented by expanded curbsides and additional drop-off/pick-up lanes to ease congestion and improve traffic flow.

In addition to these developments, the NNIC also made strides in modernizing the airport’s systems in partnership with Collins Aerospace; upgrading facilities and enhancing terminal comfort; improving power resilience and environmental standards; managing flight operations, slots and runway usage; and introducing new airlines and international routes, among others.
