President Rodrigo Roa Duterte condoled with the bereaved families of killed-in-police-operation policemen and killed-in-action soldiers during the clashes between the government troops and gunmen of the Maute group in Marawi City, Lanao del Norte.

The remains of the killed policemen and soldiers lie in state at St. Peter’s Funeral Homes in Iligan City.

As of this writing, the number of people killed in the siege increased to 44. Thirty one of them were members of Maute terrorists, 11 were soldiers and two were police officers, as reported by the Western Mindanao Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
