President Rodrigo Roa Duterte honored the slain soldiers who perished in an encounter with the communist rebel group members last November 11, 2019 in Eastern Samar.

In his visit to Camp General Vicente Lukban in Catbalogan City, Samar, the Commander-in-Chief also conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Kalasag to the bereaved families of the killed-in-action (KIA) soldiers and handed financial assistance from the government.
