to the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit and India’s Republic Day

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is set to hold his first visit to the Republic of India on January 24-26, 2018 to participate in the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit and India’s Republic Day, due to take place in the city of New Delhi.

President Duterte, together with the other nine (9) Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) leaders, was invited by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Chief Guests.

With the theme, ‘Shared Values, Common Destiny,’ the ASEAN Heads of State and Government (HOS/G) would discuss ways to further strengthen the ASEAN-India ties and would exchange views on various regional and international issues at the Summit.

This year marks the 25 years of ASEAN-India relations and the 15 years of India’s summit partnership with ASEAN.

At the India’s Republic Day celebration, President Duterte, together with the leaders from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, shall witness a grand parade that is done annually to celebrate India’s independence from the United Kingdom in 1947 and the signing of the Republic’s Constitution in 1950.
