President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited the grave of his parents, Soledad “Nanay Soling” Duterte and Vicente Duterte, and other relatives in the Roman Catholic Cemetery on the evening of November 1, 2016.

During his visit, the President requested the people in the cemetery to give him a brief moment to say his prayers and pay his respects to his parents.

The President said that when his time comes, he does not wish to be buried in the Libingan ng mga Bayani or the Heroes’ Cemetery but be laid to rest beside the grave of his parents instead.

“The greatest honor that the man can have in his lifetime is to be buried beside from where he came from. Bury me beside my mother,” he said.

President Duterte was also glad to hear that the observance of All Saints’ Day was generally peaceful as reported by the Davao City Police Office in his hometown.
