President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inspection of the Angat Dam and the unveiling of the Angat Water Transmission Improvement Project (AWTIP) schematic diagram in Norzagaray, Bulacan.

In his speech, the President highlighted the importance of water to every Filipino, saying, “Ang tubig ay bukal ng buhay, at mahalagang matugunan ang pangangailangang ito ng ating mga Boss.” Because of this basic necessity, the government implemented the Water Security Legacy Program that would secure the water supply for every household.

He also emphasized some of the programs under the said project, such as the Angat Water Utilization and Aqueduct Improvement Project Phase 2, the Angat Dam and Dike Strengthening Project, the Bulacan Bulk Water Supply Project, and the Kaliwa Dam Project.

As a parting message, President Aquino said that he would serve the Filipino people until the last moment of his term.

The Angat Water Transmission Improvement Project involves the construction of a new tunnel from the Ipo Dam to Bigte in Norzagaray, Bulacan. With a diameter of 4 meters and a length of 6.4 kilometers, the design is said to hold 19 cubic meters of water per second. It will ensure and sustain the supply of water for Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan and portions of Cavite.
