President Rodrigo Roa Duterte awarded financial grants to the beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) Program and Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) in a turnover ceremony held in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

According to the DSWD, the UCT recipient-beneficiaries of the day’s event are among the poorest households in South Cotabato identified through the national government’s database. On the other hand, the SLP caters to associations and accredited groups that promote sustainable livelihood microenterprises such as rice-retailing projects, flower production, cattle raising, and eatery, among others.

In his keynote address, President Duterte lauded DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista and cited that one of the department head’s notable characteristics is honesty in his work, which corresponds to the anti-corruption efforts of the administration.

The Chief Executive added that he shall continue firing corrupt government officials and pursue politicians and law enforcers alike who are involved in corruption, criminality, and the trade of illegal drugs.

Furthermore, President Duterte underscored a few of the accomplishments of the administration, including the rehabilitation of Boracay Island in Aklan and his directives to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to implement land reform in the Island.

At the end of the program, the President stood for a photo opportunity with the officials and employees of the DSWD – Region XII and other invited guests.
