President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inspection of the newly-finished classroom buildings at the City of Malolos Integrated School in Malolos, Bulacan where the ceremonial turnover of the Department of Eduation’s (DepEd) Public Private Partnership (PPP) for School Infrastructure Project Phase I (PSIP-1) took place.
PSIP-1 is the first social infrastructure PPP project under the Aquino administration in partnership with Citicore-Megawide Consortium Inc. which aims to help address the shortage of classrooms nationwide. The project involves the design, financing and construction of 7,144 classrooms in 12 provinces across Regions III and IV-A. Many recipient schools are located in remote areas unreachable by usual transportation methods.
Also present in the ceremonial turnover are Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson, Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Armin Luistro, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director-General Joel Villanueva, Public-Private Partnership Center Executive Director Cosette Canilao, and representatives from Citicore Holdings Investment Inc. led by Chairman Michael Cosiquien.
