Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual joins his counterparts, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo of the United States and Minister Ken Saito of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), in the first Trilateral Economic Ministers Meeting in Washington, D.C., United States of America on 11 April 2024.
The meeting aims to explore new trade and investment avenues that promise to generate business, create jobs and foster sustainability among the three countries.
It also serves as a preparatory meeting for the Joint Vision Statement that will be issued in the Trilateral United States-Japan-Philippines Leaders’ Summit.
The Philippines is keen on enhancing its investment climate and seeks to unlock further trade and investment opportunities in line with the Administration’s objectives to improve infrastructure, upskill workers, ensure environmental sustainability and invigorate the private sector through meaningful initiatives.
Previous engagements that include U.S. Commerce Secretary Raimondo’s successful Presidential Trade and Investment Mission (PTIM) to the Philippines last March and discussions at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Japan Economic Co-Creation Forum have set the stage for future collaborations, underscoring the robust economic ties of the Philippines, United States and Japan.
