San Ildefonso, Bulacan

Demonstrating the Administration’s full commitment to ensuring adequate income for farmers and affordable rice prices for all Filipinos, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited the National Food Authority (NFA) Warehouse in Barangay Malipampang, San Ildefonso, Bulacan.

During the program, the President met with approximately 70 participating farmers during the NFA’s ‘Ugnayan’ Forum where they were briefed on key Agency programs such as the Palay Procurement Program and the Palay Marketing Assistance Program for Legislators and Local Government Units (PALLGU). The PALLGU allows local government units (LGUs) to contribute additional funds to increase the NFA’s current buying price of PhP24 per kilo.

In his brief message, the Chief Executive emphasized that the government is exerting all efforts to achieve a balance between ensuring a fair and sufficient income for farmers and keeping prices affordable for consumers.

He underscored that one of the top priorities in the agricultural sector is modernization — an essential step toward building a more progressive and resilient agricultural industry in the country.

Accompanied by Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. and NFA Administrator Larry Lacson, President Marcos Jr. inspected two (2) warehouses where he witnessed the ongoing procurement of locally harvested palay and received a briefing from NFA officials. He then examined the current palay stockpile and oversaw the loading of palay bound for private milling facilities.

Today’s event addressed requests from Bulacan farmers for the resumption of palay procurement which has been halted due to insufficient storage space.

The NFA’s rice inventory plays a key role in supporting the Administration’s ‘Benteng Bigas Meron Na’ (BBM Na) program, a cornerstone of President Marcos Jr.’s food security strategy aimed at benefiting up to 60 million Filipinos and continuing through the end of his term in June 2028.
