President Benigno S. Aquino III graced this morning a thanksgiving mass at the San Fernando De Dilao Parish Church in Paco, Manila to celebrate the elevation of His Eminence Luis Antonio “Chito” Tagle to the College of Cardinals.

Tagle, along with five other non-European clergy, was officially appointed as the new “Princes of the Church” by the Supreme Pontiff and was installed by Pope Benedict XVI as Cardinal Manila Archbishop during a ceremony at the St. Peter’s Basilica last Saturday.

He is the Catholic Church’s second youngest cardinal at 55 years old, and is the only active cardinal of the country to participate during a conclave or the closed room gathering set aside for cardinals when electing a pope.
