“Today, I speak before you as your Commander-in-Chief, never been prouder of the brave women and men not just of the Western Command but the entire Armed Forces,” said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in a talk to troops during his visit to the Western Command (WESCOM) at Camp General Artemio Ricarte in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

President Marcos Jr. applauded the 80 officers and troops who sailed Philippine waters and exercised greatest restraint amid the intense provocation during a recent rotation and resupply (RORE) mission in Ayungin Shoal.

“You demonstrated to the world that the Filipino spirit is one that is brave, determined and compassionate,” he stated.

He also conveyed his utmost gratitude to the families and friends who support the troops, acknowledging their dedication in serving the nation’s sovereignty.

In recognition of the Philippine Navy’s commendable efforts in recent reprovisioning operations, the Commander-in-Chief conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu to 80 soldiers, consisting of 79 Kamagi medals to the troops who actively participated and made significant contributions to an activity aligned with a campaign or advocacy of the President while one (1) Kampilan Award is bestowed upon Seaman First Class Underwater Operator Jefrey Facundo, who was seriously injured during the RORE mission.

“Kayo ang ehemplo ng isang Bagong Pilipino. Kayo ay isa sa aming inspirasyon para lalo pang pagbutihin ang aming sinumpaang tungkulin,” President Marcos Jr. stressed.

Moreover, he reiterated the government’s ongoing commitment in providing for the needs and ensuring the well-being of soldiers and their families.

“Let us continue to chart the destiny of our nation — one that is strengthened by diversity and united in our quest for peace,” President Marcos Jr. ended in his speech.
