“We cannot build a country by killing our own citizens… But we cannot allow a group of men or a percentage of the civilians to destroy the youth and to destroy the country,” President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said while asking the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to help him with the country’s war against crime during his talk to men and patients of the AFP Medical Center (AFPMC) covered court in Barangay Piñahan, Quezon City.
The President also spoke about the recently allotted budget of around PhP 691 million given to the AFPMC, with the help of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Benjamin Diokno, for purchasing four new medical equipment, a new building and the retrofitting of an old one.
He further talked about starting construction of new infrastructure as soon as possible, and to make sure that procured equipment will be of high quality. He added “Ayokong itataya ang buhay…” with regards to using sub-standard equipment.
President Duterte also discussed the benefits that he is pursuing for Filipino soldiers such as giving their children free education and his wish to have the AFP build an office dedicated to complying with the pension of fallen and injured soldiers for their families’ well being.
He ended his talk by reiterating his support to the soldiers, saying, “I will serve you and I will not abandon you.”
