President Rodrigo Roa Duterte convened the local government units (LGU) from across the Philippines and gave his assurance that the national government would work together with them to further promote peace and order, social development, and combat illegal drugs for a more stable nation.

In his message at the Sulong Pilipinas: Local Governance Series, President Duterte reiterated his nationwide campaign of fighting criminality in the country. These include corruption in the government, terrorism, and the long battle against illegal drugs that put at risk the pursuit for a peaceful and orderly society.

The President pointed out his intention to suppress such threats, saying he is ready to lose the Presidency anytime just to save the next generation of Filipinos from wrongdoings. He also said that no international criticisms would stop him from fulfilling his promises to the people.

“I want to stress a point here. Ang sabi ko korapsyon, ang sabi ko drugs at criminality, na itong sa tatlong ito, I am prepared for these three events in this life. I am ready to lose the presidency itself. I’m ready to lose my life, and with it, my honor. Hindi ako aatras dito,” President Duterte said.
