August 4-8, 2025

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. embarks on a historic State Visit to the Republic of India from 4 to 8 August 2025, aimed at deepening cooperation across various sectors.

In New Delhi, the President engages in a series of bilateral meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu to advance shared priorities in defense, maritime collaboration, trade and investment, science and technology, and cultural exchange.

Maritime cooperation remains a vital component of the Philippines-India relationship, with ongoing efforts to enhance collaborative activities in this area. Several bilateral agreements are also expected to be signed during the trip, covering fields such as law, culture, science and technology.

In addition to existing cooperation, the Philippines aspires to negotiate a bilateral trade agreement with India, building on the progress made through the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement.

The Philippine delegation’s engagements in Bangalore, known as India’s Silicon Valley, demonstrate a focused effort to strengthen ties in the information and communications technology (ICT) sectors. Indian companies operating in the Philippines have expressed interest in expanding their investments, and the government is actively working to attract more Indian businesses to strengthen their presence in the country.

The visit also aims to lay the foundation for enhanced private sector collaborations, particularly in technology and innovation, with a focus on expanding economic partnerships. This underscores the Administration’s efforts to boost growth and development in the Philippines.

This state visit is upon the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the year-long celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and India, which was established in November 1949.
