13-15 March 2024
From Berlin in the Federal Republic of Germany, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. continues his trip to Central Europe by embarking on a three-day State Visit to the Czech Republic from March 13-15, 2024.
The visit focuses on the following: strengthening partnership with like-minded countries in Europe such as the Czech Republic, especially the promotion of a rules-based international order, and bolstering trade and investment opportunities in the Philippines by inviting Czech companies to increase their presence in the country.
President Marcos Jr. is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with his fellow leaders from the Czech Republic composed of President Petr Pavel, Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Senate President Milos Vystrcil and Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Marketa Pekarova Adamova.
He will attend a Philippines-Czech Business Forum and engage in one-on-one business meetings with prominent business executives and major companies to highlight the Philippines’ continuing impressive economic performance and conducive economic investment environment. Partnership agreements are expected to be signed in these events.
Likewise, a Joint Communique on the Establishment of a Labor Consultation Mechanism is expected to be inked between the two countries to enhance cooperation for the safe and orderly migration of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), as well as for the provision of higher protection of their rights and welfare.
Concluding his state visit is a gathering with the Filipino community in the capital city of Prague where he will share his Administration’s plans and programs for the OFWs and reaffirm the Philippine Government’s agenda and commitment to continuously support its countrymen wherever they are around the globe.
The state visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to the Czech Republic marks an important milestone as both countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties last October 5.
