Tandag City, Surigao del Sur

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the situation briefing on the onslaught of Tropical Storm (TS) ‘Auring’ in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.
The President issued several directives to his Cabinet members to further support the province towards rehabilitation and recovery, and the Cabinet Secretaries also reported their respective agencies’ immediate actions in aiding Surigao del Sur.
Considered as the worst flooding in its local history, several towns have been submerged in floodwater due to incessant rainfall and swelling of the Tandag River in Surigao del Sur.
According to the latest report released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on 22 February 2021 (Monday), a total of 13,816 families or 53,236 persons have been affected in 216 barangays from Northern Mindanao, Davao Region and Caraga Region. Of this number, 12,825 families or 49,236 persons are currently taking temporary shelters in 308 evacuation centers.
Prior to the situation briefing, the President conducted an aerial inspection on areas severely affected by Tropical Storm ‘Auring’, particularly in the provinces of Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.
