Barangay Nangka, Marikina City
October 28, 2022

With the primary aim of providing affordable, safe and resilient homes to millions of Filipinos, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the site inspection of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Land Development and Housing Project at Barangay Nangka in Marikina City.

Under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino: Zero Informal Settler Families (ISF) Program for 2028 — the Administration’s flagship housing project that aims to provide a total of six (6) million housing units to Filipinos — this Bagong Sibol Housing Project in Marikina City would accommodate around 10,000 families when finished. Project development involves the construction of compounds of multiple high-rise buildings reaching up to 21 floors.

Various amenities such as community outdoor malls, public market with multiple stall units, community engaged hospitals for medical care and emergencies, an elevated viewing deck and a permeable parking lot designed for long-term stormwater management are among the planned facilities within the area.

As construction of housing goes on full blast, around 1.7 million jobs would be created under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino, which would also result to an increase in cash flow in the housing sector and contribute to the country’s post-pandemic economic recovery efforts.

The DHSUD seeks an annual PhP36 billion budget for the housing program which the Chief Executive constantly monitors the implementation progress, according to DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar.

The Bagong Sibol Housing Project is the sixth project under the President’s housing program. It broke ground on 7 October 2022 wherein the DHSUD and the Marikina City local government inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
