San Mateo, Rizal
July 26, 2024
Following a situation briefing with the local chief executives of the Province of Rizal, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited the evacuees at San Mateo Elementary School where he reiterated the Administration’s comprehensive relief efforts to mitigate the combined effects of Super Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat).
During his visit to the evacuation site, the President oversaw the distribution of relief goods provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and took time to meet the displaced residents who were forced to evacuate their homes due to widespread flooding, causing extensive destruction in several barangays, as reported by the Public Information Office (PIO) of San Mateo.
As of yesterday, more than 13,000 individuals or 3,300 families remain displaced and are housed in several evacuation centers across the Municipality.
President Marcos Jr. has directed a whole-of-government approach in addressing the effects of Super Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon in the areas mostly affected, particularly in Regions III, IV-A and the National Capital Region (NCR).
