President Benigno S. Aquino III and Premier Christy Clark witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Province of British Columbia (BC) Concerning Cooperation in Human Resource Deployment and Development.

The MOU which is an upgraded version of the one signed in 2008 aims to simplify the employment and deployment of Filipinos working in BC and implement the present guidelines in protecting the workers’ welfare.

Moreover, the understanding between the two governments is expected to reinforce the shared efforts in removing barriers on the certification, matching of skills and qualifications of Filipinos in line with the conditions set by BC regulations.

For the Philippines side, Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz signed the MOU while International Trade Minister Teresa Wat signed for the BC government.

After his meeting with Premier Clark, President Aquino signed the Distinguished Guest Book.
