President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presided over a discussion on the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) road right-of-way (ROW) acquisition in the implementation of its physical connectivity infrastructure projects as he held another sectoral meeting at the State Dining Room in Malacañan Palace.

By virtue of Republic Act (RA) No. 10752 or the Right-of-Way Act, the government may acquire real property needed as right-of-way site or location for any national government infrastructure project through donation, negotiated sale, expropriation or any other mode of acquisition as provided by law.

The DPWH explained its ROW acquisition process, including a detailed workflow covering the pre-acquisition and acquisition proper stages, as well as provided a ROW budget briefer and the common challenges in ROW acquisition such as the death of respective claimants, determination of compensation price, cash-based budgeting and a few other relative matters.
