On the second day of his Official Visit to Japan, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. engaged in a discussion with the top executives of Japan-based semi-conductor, electronics and wiring harnesses companies at the Okura Hotel in Tokyo.
The meeting served as a venue for the Government of the Philippines and Japanese companies to discuss measures of business expansions and important updates on their operations in the Philippines, as well as the impact of these possible partnerships to the country’s economic growth, particularly in terms of special technology, job creation, industry development, among others.
In his remarks, President Marcos Jr. underscored the importance of organizing roundtable meetings in an interactive manner such as this, to send a clear message of commitment towards smooth operations for the benefit of Japanese businesses that continue to invest in the Philippines.
“We aspire to become hubs of excellence for sectors where we have a natural comparative advantage. We want the country to attain the status as a regional hub for printers, wiring harnesses and other electronic goods,” the Chief Executive conveyed.
Several members of the Philippine delegation and the Economic Team including Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual, Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Benjamin Diokno, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman attended the meeting.
