President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. concluded his roundtable meeting in China by addressing the business executives in nickel processing, battery and electronic vehicle manufacturing.
“In the midst of the climate crisis lies a great opportunity to create a cleaner and greener world. The Philippines intends to meet this global challenge and level up our green minerals sector and redirect our car assembly industry to producing batteries and e-vehicles,” the President stated in his remarks.
He acknowledged the great potential of the country’s green metals and battery/EV manufacturing industry in revitalizing the economy. At present, China imports 70% of its nickel ore and concentrates requirements from the Philippines.
