President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. took time to see one of the significant cultural and historical sites in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, as he and President Vo Van Thuong visited the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long.
Constructed in the 11th century during the Ly Dynasty of Vietnam, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long is a significant milestone signifying Dai Viet’s emergence into independence. It was built on the foundation of a Chinese fortress dating back to the 7th century; for nearly 13 years, it held the pivotal role of regional political dominance.
The monumental structure’s universal significance lies in its enduring historical importance, continuous role as a seat of power and rich cultural layers.
In 2010, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long was added to the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage List.
