“Today is another milestone in the history of the Presidential Security Group as we celebrate Brigadier General Dagoy’s successful tour of duty as PSG Commander,” said President Rodrigo Roa Duterte when he led the troops’ Change of Command Ceremony for former PSG Commander Brigadier General (BGen.) Lope C. Dagoy in Malacañang Park, Manila.

Colonel Jose Eriel Niembra took over as the new PSG Commander.

In his keynote speech, the President cited a few of the accomplishments of Brigadier General Dagoy in his stint as the PSG chief. “Under his able leadership, the PSG has effectively provided security to 16 foreign and more than 900 local Presidential engagements, this include arrangements in Marawi, from the start of the conflict until the full liberation of the city as well,” he said.

Apart from leading the security for the foreign leaders who arrived in the country for the 30th and 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits held in April and November 2017, Brigadier General Dagoy has also conducted classes for the VIP Protection Course that produced more than 200 graduates.

“General Dagoy, I wish you the best, as you assume your new command. Rest easy as you have initiated positive changes in the organization and inspired every personnel with your hard work and dedication. I am certain that the PSG you’ll hand over is a work force that is more motivated and dependable,” the Commander-in-Chief added.

On the other hand, President Duterte extended his best wishes for Colonel Niembra, as he marches on a new tour of duty as the new head of the PSG.

“Colonel Niembra, we will constantly face threats and challenges as we trudge the noble path of realizing long-lasting peace and sustainable development. With your credentials and background as the former deputy group commander of the PSG, I’ll trust that we’ll move forward in the right direction as you create your own mark in this command,” he ended.
