President Benigno S. Aquino III together with Liberal Party President and Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas led the Proclamation of Cavite Liberal Party candidates running for the 2013 elections.

In his message, President Aquino urged the members of the Liberal Party (LP) to continue what they have started to pave the way towards the proverbial ‘tuwid na daan.’  “Sa darating na Mayo, muli na namang mahaharap sa sangandaan and mga Pilipino. Ang tanong: pipiliin mo bang lumihis ng daan pabalik sa bulok na sistema’t balikong kalakaran? Bilang Liberal, iisa ang prinsipyong magtitimon sa inyong panunungkulan sa bandila,” he said.

The President also witnessed the acceptance speech of Cavite Representative and former Cavite Governor Erineo ”Ayong” Maliksi to run under the LP banner for a hopeful comeback in the province’s gubernatorial seat. He will be partnered with Ronald Jay Lacson, son of Senator Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson, as his running mate for vice governor in the coming election.

He also cited several Caviteños serving under his administration and sought the approval to ‘borrow’ Representative Joseph Emilio “Jun” Abaya of the 1st district as his new Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).

In addition, President Aquino announced the PhP60 billion budget approved by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) to construct the Light Railway Transit 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extention Project linking Baclaran and Bacoor, which will help lessen traffic congestion and travel time for almost 250,000 motorists residing in Cavite. The bidding for the project is expected to take off in April 2013 and the construction to begin on June 2014.
