President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the Presidential Security Group (PSG) Change of Command Ceremony for outgoing PSG Commander, Brigadier General Randolph G. Cabangbang (Philippine Army), at the PSG Grandstand in Malacañang Park, City of Manila.

“The mission of the Presidential Security Group goes beyond the stated mission of protecting the First Family and foreign dignitaries to come to visit with us. What you are guarding is not only the [First Family] but you are guarding and keeping safe an institution — the institution of the Presidency,” President Marcos Jr. emphasized in his speech.

“That is why we only pick the best men and women that we have within our military to join the Presidential Security Group,” the Commander-in-Chief continued.

President Marcos Jr. presented BGen. Cabangbang with the Distinguished Service Medal, an award given to officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for the ‘valuable and exceptional service rendered in a position of major responsibility’ as PSG Commander.

Colonel Ramon P. Zagala (Philippine Army), former AFP Spokesperson, took over as the new PSG Commander. He concurrently holds the position as the Acting Senior Military Assistant to the President.

“You have my thanks for stepping up to the challenge of being the next leader of the PSG. I trust that under your leadership, the PSG will be able to continue the excellent provision of security to the Office of the President and the First Family as well as visiting heads of states and diplomats,” the Chief Executive expressed to the newly installed PSG Commander.

The Commander-in-Chief also received his urban camouflage, an exclusive uniform of the PSG uniformed personnel, as a memento.
