“Maliban sa turismo, ang pagsasaka at pangingisda ang ilan pa sa pangunahing industriya dito sa Bohol… At sa angking yaman ng inyong mga lupa at karagatan, isa sa mga hangarin ng administrasyong ito ay ang palaguin pa ang pagsasaka at pangingisda sa inyong lalawigan; nang sa gayon ay umunlad din ang inyong ekonomiya,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. declared, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to boosting the agriculture sector in Region 7.
The President made these remarks as he led the distribution of various government assistance to farmers, fisherfolk and families during a program at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Speaking before the local community, President Marcos Jr. empathized with the families severely affected by the El Niño crisis, saying, “Alam kong higit labing-tatlong libong pamilya at higit labing-apat na libong magsasaka at mangingisda sa Bohol ang lubos na naapektuhan ng El Niño noong mga nakaraang buwan… Kaya sana po ay makatulong ang mga programa ng gobyerno at ang dala naming ayuda upang tuluyan na kayong makabawi sa mga hamong dinadaanan ninyo.”
Moreover, he announced ongoing infrastructure projects nearing completion, such as the Mabini-Cayacay Small Reservoir Irrigation Project which spans over 500 hectares and is expected to provide sufficient water supply to the people of Mabini and Alicia in Bohol.
“Walang sawa kaming magpapatupad ng mga programang makabubuti sa inyo, magsasagawa ng mga iba’t ibang proyektong makapagbibigay ng ginhawa sa inyong buhay, at mamumuhunan para sa inyong kapakanan at kasaganahan,” President Marcos Jr. assured them.
As part of the Administration’s commitment to providing immediate recovery and assistance, particularly to the agricultural sector adversely affected by El Niño, the President handed over agri-fishery assistance packages, including farm machineries, fishing equipment, seeds and fertilizers. He also provided cash assistance of PhP10,000 each to 20 select beneficiaries from Bohol and Cebu, as well as PhP100 million in financial aid to the two (2) Provincial Governments.
In addition, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed cash assistance of PhP10,000 each to 10,000 farmers and fisherfolk under its ‘Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita’ (AKAP) Program.
Other government agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), along with the Office of House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, extended various assistance to identified beneficiaries and attendees of the event.
