“Nawa’y ang tulong na dala namin ngayon ay magpalakas sa inyong mga kabuhayan at magpatibay pa lalo sa inyo bilang isang lalawigan,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conveyed during his visit to the Municipality of Patikul in the Province of Sulu where he reassured the people of government’s continuous efforts to uplift the lives and welfare of Filipinos under the vision of a ‘Bagong Pilipinas.’
In his message, the President underscored the Administration’s steadfast commitment to ensuring progress in the entire Province of Sulu, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, fisheries and infrastructure amidst the effects of the El Niño phenomenon.
Around 5,000 beneficiaries received PhP10,000 each under the ‘Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program’ (AKAP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The Office of the President (OP) also handed financial assistance worth PhP10 million to the Provincial Government of Sulu for distribution to the farmer and fisherfolk beneficiaries.
Likewise, he assured the fisherfolk of government’s fight against illegal fishing in Sulu, as he ordered the Maritime Police Station to intensify efforts in patrolling the country’s water resources.
Additionally, President Marcos Jr. confirmed plans to start the Jolo Airport Development Project that is currently underway with a total allotted budget of PhP100 million.
“Isa sa aking mga sinumpaan noong maupo ako sa pagka-Pangulo ay ang tiyaking maayos ang kalagayan ng ating mga kababayan na nagsisilbing pundasyon ng ating agrikultura… Makakaasa kayong tutuparin namin ang aming pangakong matulungan ang ating mga magsasaka, mangingisda at inyong mga pamilya upang makamit niyo ang mas maginhawang pamumuhay,” he said.
The Chief Executive urged all local government units (LGUs) in the Province to continue supporting the collective efforts of the national government in creating a better future, not just for farmers and fisherfolk, but for all Filipinos across the archipelago.
“Sa Bagong Pilipinas, magiging kaagapay ninyo kami upang mapalago pa ang inyong sektor at mabigyang katuparan ang inyong mga pangarap… Sa ating patuloy na pagbabayanihan, naniniwala akong agaran nating maitataguyod ang mas matatag, mas maunlad at mas masaganang Bagong Pilipinas,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his speech.
