President Rodrigo Roa Duterte received the new non-resident Ambassadors-Designate from the Portuguese Republic, Ukraine, and the Republic of Yemen during their presentation of credentials at Malacañan Palace, Manila.

H.E. Rui Fernando Sucena Do Carmo, Ambassador-Designate of Portugal to the Philippines who previously served as Ambassador to Indonesia, was accompanied in the presentation of credentials by Portugal Honorary Consul Antonio Rufino.

President Duterte’s meeting with Ambassador Do Carmo was followed by the presentation of credentials of H.E. Olexander Nechytaylo, Ambassador-Designate of Ukraine to the Philippines who previously served as the Ambassador to Malaysia. The Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse, Madame Triana Nechytaylo, and Honorary Consul of Ukraine Dr. Oscar De Venecia.

Lastly, the President received H.E. Adel Mohamed Ali Ba Hamid, Ambassador-Designate of Yemen, in a ceremonial presentation of credentials with Yemeni Second Secretary Belal Al Akwa.

The ceremonies made to honor the respected diplomats consisted of arrival honors for the Ambassadors, signing of the Malacañang Guest Book, a presentation of their credentials, and a closed-door meeting with President Duterte.

The President was joined in the event by Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Ernesto Abella, DFA Chief of Protocol Assistant Secretary Jerril Santos, and other officials of the DFA.
