President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. welcomed His Excellency Marciano Octavio Garcia Da Silva, Resident Ambassador-Designate of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, as he formally presented his letter of credence at the Reception Hall in Malacañan Palace.

The President extended his warm welcome to the Timorese envoy and expressed optimism for the further development of partnership between their two nations, commending the progress made thus far.

The Philippines and Timor-Leste celebrated 21 years of diplomatic relations in May 2023. President Marcos Jr. previously met President José Ramos-Horta in November last year, when the Timorese leader conducted a four-day State Visit to the country. They engaged in bilateral discussions geared on enhancing collaboration across various sectors, including political, technical, educational and economic cooperation, among other areas.
