President Rodrigo Roa Duterte formally received from the Embassy of China to the Philippines a donation worth PhP 15 million for Marawi City in a simple ceremony at Malacañan Palace.
H.E. Zhao Jianhua, the Ambassador of China to the Philippines, presented the two checks amounting to PhP 7.5 million each. The checks were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH) for the relief operations and rehabilitation in the war-torn city of Marawi.
President Duterte thanked the People’s Republic of China for aiding the country, saying that China is a ‘friend’ of the Philippines.
Present during the ceremony were Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Judy Taguiwalo, and Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Herminigildo Valle.
