President Benigno S. Aquino III led the 16th Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Conferment Ceremony held at the Rizal Hall in Malacañang.
Five awardees received the Recognition for Commitment to Quality Management namely, Cuidad Medical Zamboanga, Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila, Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation, Department of Science and Technology – Region XI, and the Philippine Information Agency.
In President Aquino’s keynote address, he lauded these companies and government agencies for their achievement and commitment to improve their performance. “I am certain that your organizations will be able to play an even greater role in the continuing empowerment, progress and prosperity of the Filipino people, and stand as shining examples of quality to all other companies and government organizations in the Philippines,” he said.
Established in 1997 through Executive Order No. 448 and institutionalized through Republic Act 9013, the PQA was created to set the standard of excellence in helping Philippine organizations and companies achieve world-class performance.
