“This ceremony is not meant as a farewell to General Acorda, but a chance to acknowledge and congratulate him for his efforts, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety and security of our people,” said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as he led the Change of Command Ceremony and Retirement Honors for Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr., at the PNP Grandstand in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

In his speech, President Marcos Jr. cited the five (5) focused agenda under the stint of General Acorda Jr. that guided the organization towards more honest law enforcement operations, enhanced information technology capabilities and stronger community relations.

He lauded the PNP’s effort in combatting various forms of crime that have yielded tangible results and exceeded the diligence of the officers and personnel, as well as the effectiveness of the organization’s programs.

“In a survey conducted by OCTA Research last year, the PNP was recognized as the 3rd Highest Performing and Most Trusted among 25 government agencies in the second quarter of 2023 with a 76% trust rating. This indicates the public’s increasing trust in the police force,” the President remarked.

Furthermore, President Marcos Jr. expressed his heartfelt gratitude to more than 230,000 members of the PNP who played a significant role in the organization’s success and the nation’s growth. He also acknowledged the families of these dedicated officers for understanding the sacrifices they make and for supporting their loved ones in serving the country.

“And now, we pass the privilege of leading the PNP to become more efficient, transparent, and trustworthy in these challenging but promising times… With our heartfelt congratulations, we welcome Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil, who will assume the responsibilities of the 30th Chief of the PNP,” the Commander-in-Chief stated.

He urged General Marbil to continue the Administration’s commitment in providing transformational progress and the finest service to the Filipino people by endorsing the newly installed PNP Chief’s initiative of establishing a police force that upholds values of devotion to God, loyalty to the nation, care for its citizens and protection of the environment.

Moreover, he enjoined the entire organization to face the coming days with even greater fervor, determination and optimism to achieve the PNP’s goals and aspirations for the nation.

“Let us all remain vigilant in the face of challenges and opportunities, as we strive to build a Bagong Pilipinas where everyone can thrive and live in peace,” President Marcos Jr. ended in his speech.
